What is the role of the school board?
According to Pennsylvania School Boards Association, school boards: • Establish a vision and goals for the school district that support the needs of students. • Hire and annually evaluate the superintendent and assistant superintendent. • Set and evaluate policies that define the expectations for the consistent day-to-day operations of the district. • Adopt a district budget that reflects the community’s educational values and student’s needs, balanced with the ability of the local taxpayers. • Fulfill key work of monitoring and evaluating student opportunity and achievement. • Approve the planned instruction (curriculum) describing what will be taught.Meeting Schedule
About Board Meetings
ATTENDANCEIndividuals may attend meetings in person at the Stroudsburg High School Cafeteria or virtually, via Zoom. The Zoom link for the public meeting can be found on the district calendar. Public attendance at board meetings is encouraged and we welcome you; however, attendees must adhere to the requirements set forth in Policy 903 - Public Participation in Board Meetings. (The full policy and accompanying Administrative Regulation can be found HERE).
Public Comment
There are two opportunities for public input during the regular meeting agenda:
- Comment regarding specific agenda items (at the beginning of the meeting) Online SIGNUP
- Comment regarding non-agenda items (at the end of the meeting) ONLINE SIGNUP
If you choose to address the Board, you will be asked to complete a speaker's card prior to the start of the meeting and you will be acknowledged at the appropriate time by the Board President.
