Volunteers
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Thank you for your interest in being a parent volunteer for the 2024-2025 school year. Due to the passing of Act 153 and through recent amendments to the law, a school volunteer who is responsible for the welfare of children OR has direct volunteer contact with children because he/she provides care, supervision, guidance or control of children AND has routine interaction with children is required to provide the school principal with the below listed information prior to beginning service as a volunteer in the District. All Volunteers must be approved by the School Board on a yearly basis. New volunteers are required to provide clearances that are less than one year old. Active volunteers with no break in service are required to renew clearances every 60 months. Please see the information below regarding the documentation required to be a parent volunteer. - Act 24 - Arrest/conviction Report and Certification Form
- PA Criminal Record Check (Act 34) –https://epatch.pa.gov/home – Submit a “New Volunteer Record Check”, follow the instructions on screen, when processing has completed, click on the certification form, print and submit with your application.
- PA Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151) - https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home - Create an individual account (if you have completed clearances previously, you can login), follow instructions and prompts, it may take several days for the results to come back, once the results are back, print and submit with your application.
- Volunteer Affidavit or Act 114 FBI Fingerprints
a. If you have lived in Pennsylvania for at least 10 years – Please fill out the Volunteer Affidavit.
b. If you have lived in Pennsylvania for less than 10 years – Please go to www.identogo.com and enter Service code 1KG6ZJ to schedule an appointment for the FBI Criminal History – Fingerprint check. Please submit the results with your application.
- Mandated Reporter Training – Watch an online training at www.reportabusepa.pitt.edu. Submit the certificate with your application. (Athletic/Activity Volunteers will receive separate instructions regarding training)
- Tuberculin Test -Prior to participating in student activities, volunteers shall undergo a test for tuberculosis, as required by board policy and in accordance with the regulations and guidance of the Pennsylvania Department of Health. The tuberculin skin test shall be performed by a physician of the volunteer’s choice and must be less than 3 months old at the time of application.
Clearances for new volunteers must be less than one year old at the time of Board approval. TB test must be less than 3 months old. If volunteer service is continued year to year with Board approval, clearances will only need to be renewed at 60 months.
